Background

Aligned with the college’s strategy for high-quality university education, this unit was established to support undergraduate and postgraduate students based on modern quality standards, to assist struggling students and nurture high achievers.

Provide support and care to high-achieving and struggling students through comprehensive, quality-driven guidance, fostering academic progress, completion of study programs, and a positive scientific and social environment.

Objectives

  • Support and foster exceptional students in line with national policy.
  • Utilize faculty expertise and modern educational methods to build a supportive academic environment.
  • Address large class sizes and enhance academic and social conditions to empower outstanding students for the job market.
  • Enable academic, cultural, and social collaboration between faculty and students.
  • Deliver academic advice to help students progress and complete their programs.
  • Establish communication channels with college leadership, departments, and administrations to resolve student issues and offer comprehensive academic support.

Types of Student Support

1. Financial Support:

  • Students in need can apply to the Social Solidarity Fund (requires documentation).
  • Assistance may include textbooks, tuition, materials, medical aids, housing allowances, monthly aid for chronically ill students, funeral expenses, accident insurance payouts, meal provisions, and other needs per regulation.

 

2. Academic Support:

  • Inform students of available academic aid to encourage engagement with support services.

 

3. Medical Support:

  • Provide health-related assistance to help students overcome health challenges impacting their studies.

Academic Advisor’s Role

  • Maintain a student file with data forms, course plans, registration forms, and administrative documents.
  • Guide students on registration processes, course selection, and timetabling.
  • Handle administrative tasks: major changes, add/drop courses, withdrawals, absences, deferments, and withdrawals.
