Career Fields for Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in food science:

Graduates in this specialization have job opportunities in research institutions focused on this field, conducting scientific research. They also have opportunities to work in factories, companies, and institutions involved in the food industry, which meets society’s needs for various food products.
Graduates can work in enhancing the nutritional value of food products, fortifying them, and marketing them.
Graduates can work in the field of food product manufacturing and development.
Graduates can work in evaluating new food products and conducting scientific studies on them before they are released to the market.
Graduates can establish and manage small or medium-sized projects in the field of food science in collaboration with youth groups.

The duration of study to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science is four academic years (eight academic levels) for all departments. The study system is based on two semesters per year, following the credit hour system.
Upon successfully completing the study program in the chosen specialization and earning 131 credit hours, Helwan University awards the bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science, specializing in Food Science, upon recommendation by the Faculty of Nutrition Science Council.

Note: This bachelor’s degree does not qualify the graduate to obtain a license to open clinics or medical centers.

The language of instruction at the Faculty of Nutrition Science is Arabic, except for the Clinical Nutrition–English Division, where instruction is in English.
In all specializations taught in Arabic, each academic department must designate at least one course in the major field to be taught in English, in addition to teaching the relevant scientific terminology in English within each course.
