Welcome Ceremony

The Faculty of Nutrition Science held a student welcome ceremony for all departments, with approximately 1,000 students in attendance at the faculty campus on Friday, October 4, 2024. The event was held under the patronage of Professor Dr. El-Sayed Qandil, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Naeem Rabeh, Acting Dean of the Faculty. Faculty members and teaching assistants involved in educating the Faculty's students were present, along with Ms. Nadia Awad, Acting Secretary of the Faculty.

Prof. Dr. Naeem Rabeh congratulated the students on the new academic year and stated that the Nutrition Science faculty is unique locally and regionally. He emphasized the importance of students living up to the trust placed in them by the university and faculty administration, particularly as the job market is highly competitive. He also gave a brief overview of the faculty’s vision, mission, departments, and career opportunities in each field. The Dean of the faculty clarified that a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition Science does not authorize graduates to open medical clinics.

Additionally, the ceremony featured a presentation of various student activities, and a link was shared during the event to gather students’ different talents for participation in activities at both the faculty and university levels. Faculty members affirmed their commitment to supporting students both academically and practically.

During the event, teaching assistants conducted height and weight measurements for some students to help determine their ideal body weight. They also collaborated with a graduate from the Nutrition Department to prepare a healthy product consisting of date balls with sesame and biscuits enriched with coconut and chia seeds, along with their nutritional values. These were distributed to all attendees in line with the faculty’s mission to promote healthy eating habits, one of the primary goals of the Nutrition Science Faculty.
