Working in student welfare is not merely a job to provide services to students; it is a mission dedicated to engaging students in various types of activities that cultivate responsibility and help them become leaders who play influential roles in society. The different student welfare activities—social, athletic, cultural, artistic, family groups (student societies), scouts and public service, scientific and technological, social support, and student unions—are continuously evolving and innovating each year with the goal of creating a well-rounded, experienced, and skilled generation.

Details of Activities

1. Social Activities:

These aim to strengthen interpersonal relationships and foster friendships among students through various competitions and events, such as:

  • Chess training courses.
  • Chess competitions (college and university level).
  • Essay and social research contests (college and university level).
  • First aid training sessions.
  • National blood donation campaign.
  • Seminars.
  • Ideal student (male & female) competition (college and university level).
  • Recreational, cultural trips, and social visits (college and university level).

These are often accompanied by programs proposed by the Student Union and supported by the University’s General Directorate of Student Welfare, enhancing interaction and experience sharing among students.

 

2. Sports Activities:

These aim to foster a sporting spirit, encourage talent development, and organize various sporting events and team formations at the college level.

1- Individual Sports:

Swimming, table tennis, athletics, squash, fencing, kung fu, karate, boxing, wrestling, badminton, speedball.

2-Team Sports:

Football, volleyball, basketball, handball, cycling races, marathon races.

 

3. Cultural Activities:

These are focused on developing students’ literary and cultural talents and spreading cultural awareness through:

  • Language and computer training courses, literary clubs (literary salons).
  • Cultural competitions (poetry, short story, theatre critique, essays, research, wall newspapers, printed magazines, religious and cultural seminars, religious research, Qur’an and Hadith memorization competitions, religious chanting, general Islamic contests, Arabic calligraphy exhibitions).
  • Annual cultural day celebration.
  • “Who Will Win the Cup?” competition.

 

4. Artistic Activities:

These encourage and support students' artistic hobbies through:

1- Visual Arts:

Sculpture, photography, graphics, drawing, decoration, handicrafts, crochet.

2- Domestic Arts:

Sewing and tailoring, hand/automated knitting, crochet, canvas work, embroidery.

3- Theatre Arts:

Theatre performances (one-act, three-act plays).

4- Music and Folk Arts:

Solo and group performances, choir.

 

5. Student Societies (Families) Activities:

These support the formation of student groups (families) within the college, promoting collaborative planning and implementation of specialized activities that serve students, the college, and the surrounding community. Dear students, we encourage you to register in one of these families to benefit from their activities and to develop your personality and leadership skills, which will positively impact both you and your university community.

 

6. Scientific and Technological Activities:

These involve organizing scientific seminars and tech-oriented lectures, enhancing students’ scientific and technological capabilities, encouraging innovation and productivity, and implementing these ideas through science clubs and scientific societies.

 

7. Scouting and Public Service:

This activity focuses on organizing scouting programs and community service through training camps, environmental service, competitions, festivals, and nurturing volunteerism, through:

  • Scout clan selection camps, exhibitions, and art workshops.
  • Scout festival competition (university level - male scouts).
  • Girl guides’ festival competition (university level).
  •  Public service projects. 
Student Welfare Services

Social Solidarity Fund:

This fund provides financial and in-kind support for underprivileged students to ensure they have a suitable academic environment. The fund offers:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • First-year students must be officially enrolled and have paid tuition fees.
  • Students in other years must be regularly enrolled and not repeat the year.

 Application must include:

  • Social research from the local social affairs office.
  • Income statement or pension verification, stamped and signed by two employees from the relevant office.
  • Copy of family ID card (original for verification).
  • For assistive devices (hearing aids, glasses, lenses), chronic illness, or accommodation fees, the student welfare specialist conducts a social study with supporting documents and sends them to the Central Social Solidarity Fund at the university.
  • Medical report from the university’s health administration proving the student’s health condition and need for assistance.

 Services Provided:

  • Contribution toward tuition fees.
  • Assistance with university accommodation fees (for special needs students).
  • Purchase of assistive devices, motorbikes, or eyeglasses.
  • In-kind assistance (clothing, school supplies).
  • Monthly stipends for students with chronic or critical illnesses until recovery.

 How to Apply for Assistance:

The student must visit the Student Welfare Office in their faculty with:

  • Family ID card (original + copy).
  • Parent’s income proof or pension slip (or death certificate if deceased).
  • Proof of disability or illness, or prescription for eyeglasses (from the university hospital).
  • Social research report (especially if the guardian is self-employed or a farmer).

Financial Regulations for the Solidarity Fund:

A. Benefits Provided:

1- Tuition fee payment.

2- Limited book purchases at college.

3- Supplies or clothing purchases (per financial/storage regulations).

4- Nutritional support.

5- No cash grants except for chronic illness cases (max EGP 250/month).

6- Funeral expenses for deceased students (EGP 3,000).

7- Eyeglass purchase (max EGP 200).

8- Max benefit per student: EGP 500 (except for special needs or severe cases).

9- Accumulated unpaid fees from past academic years (max EGP 600) except for repeated years.

10- Critical need cases, including off-campus accommodation, are considered by the Vice President of the University.

11- Special support for first-year students (EGP 350 upon documentation submission).

12- Graduation project funding (up to EGP 400) for final-year students in practical colleges.

13- Graduates, dismissed students, and repeaters are ineligible unless a special emergency occurs after enrollment.

B. Conditions for Eligibility:

1- The student must be Egyptian.

2- The student must be regularly or affiliate-enrolled and not employed.

3- The student must be newly enrolled in their current academic year.

4- No disciplinary action against the student.

5- Family income per person must not exceed EGP 700/month.

6- The student must apply in person with the required documents; if social research is unavailable, the college’s welfare officer can prepare one.

Student Unions

Student Unions:

Student unions are formed from regular students enrolled in bachelor's or licentiate programs who have paid union fees. International and affiliate students can participate in union activities but cannot run for or vote in elections.

Union Goals:

1- Promote moral, spiritual, and national values, encourage leadership, and self expression.

2- Foster a positive university spirit and strengthen ties among students and faculty.

3- Discover, develop, and encourage student talents and skills.

4- Promote and support student societies.

5- Organize and raise the standard of sports, cultural, social, artistic, and scouting activities.

6- Engage students in community service for the benefit of the university and society.

Union Council Committees:

1- Student Families Committee.

2- Sports Committee.

3- Cultural Committee.

4- Social Committee.

5- Artistic Committee.

6- Scouts and Public Service Committee.

7- Scientific and Technological Committee.

Each committee is:

  • Formed annually and led by a faculty advisor appointed by the Dean.
  • Includes two student representatives per academic year, elected by secret ballot.
  • Students elect a Secretary and Assistant Secretary for each committee.
  • A youth welfare officer attends a committee meeting.

Union Council Responsibilities:

  • Outlining the union’s general policy based on committee proposals.
  • Approving and monitoring committee programs.
  • Budgeting and financial planning.
  • Approving final accounts.
  • Coordinating with other faculty unions and enhancing inter-college relationships.
  • Electing a Union President and Vice-President under the supervision of the Dean.
  • Membership includes student committee leaders and faculty advisors.
